Hello, my name is Kevin Leugers.
After 18 years in Cincinnati, it was challenging to resist the appeal to relocate for college. However, after hearing stories from my siblings and being accepted into the Kolodzik Business Scholars Program, UC began to feel like home. I did eventually appease this travel bug with a semester exchange in Austria. The irony is that the eagerness to explore resulted in a renewed passion for home (or so I thought).
Interning at Tire Discounters, Fifth Third Bank, and Kao Brands furthered this sense of community engagement. At Kao, developing competitive strategies and recommending promotion tactics based on my analyses seemed to bring to life the city I once thought dormant. Moreover, I ran for student government president. The sleepless nights paired with ceaselessly vibrant days brought a new perspective on the preciousness of time. Engaging peers on unaddressed issues without question brings one closer to his or her community.
Over time, I began to recognize that the place mattered far less than the opportunity for impact. Endearment for UC did not derive from its corollary city but from the individual's capacity for improvements to be made. Similarly, Kao Brands could be stationed anywhere. But the ability to analyze & advise on a majority of promotional programs as an intern is only located in so many places.
And so as I enter my final year of college, for me, the next chapter is all about location, location, location. In other words, it is about identifying the where I can be most impactful - the real estate where I can apply my passion for improvement.

Thank you for visiting my site :) People have more vibrant lives when they choose to make their actions part of a larger vision. Nursing home residents, in one study, painted their lives with independence by staging small acts of revolution (trading food, detaching armoirs from walls to redecorate, etc.) against administration. Each action was a pane in a collage capturing resistance to passively accepting death. I hope that this past fall semester was a pane: I hope I changed the world by being a good ambassador of the United States. I pray that I made a dent in promoting open-mindedness and appreciation of diversity while abroad. Seeing concern-stricken refugees cross thousand of miles to escape harm, befriending those that stereotypes instantly degrade for their genetic makeup, and watching the militarization responding to terroristic manifestations of intolerance underlined how imperative inclusion is. Moreover, inclusion's value was highlighted in studying how diverse juries make more accurate decisions and how diverse work groups make better decision. Seeing this pain and injustice motivated me to reconsider my strategy for leaving an impact on the world and the envisioned collage. My goal is to make change; noticeable change. Throughout my years, I have experienced several forms of pain but others experience much more. I want to do what I can to stop that, at least in part, through championing the value of diversity and inclusion - to reconsider differences.

I would like to invite you to read through my experiences so that you my come to know me and perhaps even gain something valuable from my accounts. My pages showcase some of the most significant moments in my undergraduate career; many experiences that I have documented have transformed my life or enlightened me. The organization thus gives great insight into my personal trajectory which will allow you to gain a better understanding of who I am. I hope that in reading this, you may find truth, insights into the human condition, someone who knows the realities of certain experiences, honesty, and/or me. Although my primary purpose in writing the reflections held here is to become a better person (in various facets), I am pleased that my works can also be meaningful to other readers. Happy diving and Enjoy!

Perhaps a defining element of who I am was my participation in Bearcats Bound Orientation as a Student Orientation Leader in 2014. It is the job where the employee is often questioned why he/she has so much enthusiasm at 8:00A.M. It is the job where 30 students form together in fellowship to "let our light shine" and in doing so "unconsciously give others permission to do the same." SOL was the most profoundly moving and enlightening position that I have ever had. I pushed through a month of disciplined training, rekindled our spirits on retreat, and led small groups, smiled, cheered, answered questions, guided, and toiled on approximately three hours of sleep (for several consecutive nights). The position comes to be used as a clear indicator by others for categorization of the SOL; those who come to know of our work history will oftentimes label us as energetic, extroverted, kind, open, and as several other attributes. And although I am not seeking to disaffiliate from these, I wish to place emphasis on community and an inviting nature as categories that I want to be seen in because of SOL. Community is predominant because at my core, I put forth effort to truly welcome the students oriented to UC and to offer to them the community that is attainable within the University of Cincinnati. Building meaningful relationships and fostering friendship among the SOLs was my passion during the summer. I loved to hold deep conversations with other SOLs and to offer myself as a haven or crutch as they had emancipated me - from fear, from pretense, from binds upon my soul - and I loved them.

For those of you who do not know me, I am a university of Cincinnati Honors Program student as well as a Kolodzik Business Scholar. I have an interest in extreme ironing. I am a ski enthusiast as well as a devoted soccer fan. I prefer mixing my cereals together so that they do not become drab and so that I never become tired of them. I was given the "Care Bear" award my senior year of high school for my deep involvement and relationships with my classmates while I attended Elder high school. I am an avid Star Wars fan and yet I also enjoy reading books for intellectual stimulation and my search for meaning in my life. I am also very excited come March for I see Saint Patrick's Day as the best holiday of the year in its own regards. If this introduction has interested you, I invite you to jump right in to the true experiences of my life!
